We are so excited to finally have the opportunity to provide Oral Myofunctional Therapy to our patients!
Kristin Good is a dental hygienist who is currently on track for certification to be a Certified Orofacial Myologist. Today, we had the good fortune to bring in Kristin today for a consult on a patient who had a recent tongue tie release, and it was amazing!
What is orofacial myofunctional therapy (OMT)?
OMT is therapy that facilitates improvement in health for disorders that involve muscles and functions of the face and mouth- such as swallowing, breathing, speech, breastfeeding, and more.
If patient had had a tongue tie release- he or she will need proper exercises of the mouth to help gain full potential of the release- otherwise, speech, breathing, and eating (in cases of infants) can still be affected.
We are happy to be able to work with a Kristin for the betterment of our patients and the greater community. Collaborations such as these are so important, as that it truly does take a team approach to provide optimum health care.
